Class Clown Stand-Up Comedy Workshop

The Class Clown Workshop

This 5 week program will help kids master the essentials of Stand-Up Comedy i.e. Timing, Point of View, Delivery of Material, and Performing skills.

It will also build confidence and improve:

Improv Skills
Basic Acting
Joke Writing
Voice, Characters, Accents
Character Development
and most importantly, strengthen self image!

Each kid will prepare a seven minute set that will be perform live at a L.A. comedy club!

Workshop Format

Class #1 - Come in with lots of ideas/setups/premises you want to develop into a 5 minute set. In addition to material, you can use your time in class to achieve any goals, like: dealing with hecklers, developing characters, speaking in public, and so on. After the initial meet and greet, you will spend time goofing around on stage, and then get feedback from Joe and the class.

Class #2 - Everyone will do a 3 minute set and we will work as a group on each person's set, punching up jokes, tweaking setups, tightening overall performance.

Class #3 - Perform your 3 minute set and get feedback from Joe and the class. Homework – Write 2 additional minutes of material to be performed in Week 4.

Class #4 - Perform your 5 minute set, then get feedback from Joe and the class. Prepare for the LIVE performance in Week 5.

Class #5 - You'll be performing your set in front of a live audience. Bring as many friends & family as possible to create a great, energy filled environment.

Along with developing material, there are many goals to work towards. Joe treats each kid on an individual basis. If you have a particular goal, share it with Joe, so he can offer support and advice to help you crush on stage.
